Google's popular social networking platform is now open to the masses - and does not require a specially sent invite to join.
Still, Google wants you to know that it is far from finished revamping and updating its nascent + service, as Mountain View continues to roll out new features in a steady cadence.
"For the past 12 weeks we've been in field trial, and during that time we've listened and learned a great deal," said Google senior VP of engineering Vic Gundotra
.
"We're nowhere near done, but with the improvements we've made so far we're ready to move from field trial to beta... [Now], anyone can visit google.com/+, join the project and connect with the people they care about."
To mark the momentous occasion, Google is introducing a number of optimized Hangout features by adding support for mobile devices (currently only Android), "On Air" broadcasts; screen sharing, Sketchpad and Docs
.
In addition, Google+ now allows searches - people, posts and relevant web content - within the social networking platform.
